This Heart Banana Bread is moist and delicious with loads of banana flavor! Friends and family love my recipe. Make it extra special with a heart shape surprise.
Two weeks ago Bailey just had to have seven bananas. She picked them for their color, which was green. I tried to convince her she would not like them until they were ripe. She had to learn for herself and after trying one unripe banana she did not want to eat any other ones. So we had six brown bananas. I hate to waste food so I knew it is the perfect time to make banana bread. This Best Banana Bread Recipe has been their top recipe for a decade and made by thousands of people. We changed it up a little and made it an Easy Heart Banana Bread.
I love that I was able to make everything in the same bowl. Since it is the month of love I added an extra special treat with a heart inside the bread. If you want to add the heart you can double this recipe below. The banana bread is so yummy with our without the added heart. You could also make other shapes. What shaped would you like to make as your surprise.
Speaking of yummy bread options this Sweet Cornbread is one of my favorite recipes and it is so easy.

Ingredients and How to Make Easy Heart Banana Bread
Recipe for Heart Banana Bread
Ingredients
- 3 overly ripe bananas peeled and sliced
- ⅓ cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- dash Salt
- ¾ cup Sugar can add more or less depending on how sweet you want it
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1-½ cups All-Purpose Flour
- Red Food Coloring
- heart cookie cutter
Instructions
- Heart Center: 1 Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch pan.
- 2 In a mixing bowl, slice the ripe bananas. Mash with a fork until completely smooth. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
- 3 Mix in the baking soda and salt. Add in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Slowly add in the flour and mix it. When it is all mixed together add in the red food coloring to the color you would like.
- 4 Pour the batter into your greased pan. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 350°F (175°C), or until a fork inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 5 Remove from oven and cool completely on a rack. Remove the banana bread from the pan. Use a heart shaped cookie cutter.
Regular Banana Bread
- 1 Leave the oven on at 350°F and grease a loaf pan.
- 4 Pour some of the batter into your greased pan, evenly on the bottom. Layer in the heart shapes side by side so they make a solid heart in the middle. Slowly add the rest of the batter next to the hearts and on top. I would recommend using a pipping bag to do this, if you don't have one you can use a plastic bag and cut a hole in it. Bake for 40 minutes to 1 hour at 350°F (175°C), or until a fork inserted into the center comes out clean. (If you are not doing the heart center cook time with be closer to 50 minutes to an hour)
- 5 Remove from oven and cool completely on a rack. To slice I used floss (unscented of course). It was my first time trying and it works really well. You can use a butter knife as well.

This isn't very clear. How much of each ingredient goes into each section? Do the heart bread and the regular loaf each get 1 1/2 of the 3 bananas or do the same ingredients get repeated for each so you actually have to collect double the ingredients listed? Perhaps there should be 2 separate ingredient lists?

The same ingredients repeat. You could just double it and make it all at the same time and the. Separate it to add the red food coloring. So it was not clear. Let me know how it turns out
