    French Toast Omelette Sandwich

Why you will love this recipe

If you love a combination of savory and sweet this is the recipe for you!  You will never want to have a regular egg sandwich again.

How to make French Toast Omelette Sandwich Recipe

    Ingredients

    • Egg
    • Milk
    • Vanilla extract
    • Cinnamon
    • Bread
    • Bacon
    • Cheese

    How to Make French Toast

    • Slice your bread
    • Mix eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a bowl.
    • Soak the bread into the egg mixture on both sides.
    • Add to a pan with butter to cook until golden brown, and flip to cook the other side.

    How to Make Scrambled Eggs

    • Whisk together the eggs and milk in a bowl.
    • Spray the pan and turn the heat to low. Heat a nonstick skillet over low heat. Cook for about 30-40 seconds. Then, mix the eggs around the edges to allow uncooked portions to get on the skillet. Scrape the spatula every 10-15 seconds until the eggs are cooked well.
    • Add salt and pepper, then divide the eggs into equal portions for the sandwiches.

    Substitutions

    • Instead of bacon slices, you can use bacon bits.
    • You can use store-bought french toast.
    • Swap out ham or sausage instead of bacon.

    Variations

Now that you know how to make the basic sandwich here are ways to switch it up.  Here are some variations you can try!

    • Bread –  I like to use french bread that I cut the slices for.  It also works with thick-cut sourdough bread. Like a grainy bread?  They work well also.  Want to skip the french toast you can use an English muffin, bagel, or even pain toast
    • Cheese –  All cheese works for me.  Some of my favorites include American, cheddar, Muenster, Colby Jack, and Swiss.

What to Put on a Scrambled Egg Sandwich

    • Toppings – you can add vegetables like lettuce and tomato, avocado, arugula, or spinach depending on your taste
    • Sauce – I grew up eating egg sandwiches with Miracle Whip, and when I’m feeling nostalgic, that’s definitely my go-to. That said, these days we mostly make egg sandwiches with mayo and a little bit of dijon mustard.
    • Spice - If you like it spicy add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the eggs and/or a few squeezes of hot sauce or Sriracha.

    Storage

These sandwiches are best served fresh.  If you make extra french toast you can freeze it.  Then reheat it in your toaster oven when you are ready to make your sandwiches.

    Top Tips

    • 2 eggs per sandwich work best for adults.
    • Milk helps to make your eggs fluffy.  To do this use 1 tablespoon of milk for every egg.
    • The eggs cook best using low heat to cook.
    • Stir the eggs frequently instead of a rubbery egg.

I love all of these things on their own (french toast, eggs, toast) but why have I never thought about combining them?! This looks so good!
