Variations
Now that you know how to make the basic sandwich here are ways to switch it up. Here are some variations you can try!
- Bread – I like to use french bread that I cut the slices for. It also works with thick-cut sourdough bread. Like a grainy bread? They work well also. Want to skip the french toast you can use an English muffin, bagel, or even pain toast
- Cheese – All cheese works for me. Some of my favorites include American, cheddar, Muenster, Colby Jack, and Swiss.
What to Put on a Scrambled Egg Sandwich
- Toppings – you can add vegetables like lettuce and tomato, avocado, arugula, or spinach depending on your taste
- Sauce – I grew up eating egg sandwiches with Miracle Whip, and when I’m feeling nostalgic, that’s definitely my go-to. That said, these days we mostly make egg sandwiches with mayo and a little bit of dijon mustard.
- Spice - If you like it spicy add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the eggs and/or a few squeezes of hot sauce or Sriracha.
Storage
These sandwiches are best served fresh. If you make extra french toast you can freeze it. Then reheat it in your toaster oven when you are ready to make your sandwiches.
Top Tips
- 2 eggs per sandwich work best for adults.
- Milk helps to make your eggs fluffy. To do this use 1 tablespoon of milk for every egg.
- The eggs cook best using low heat to cook.
- Stir the eggs frequently instead of a rubbery egg.
