June is National Dairy Month in America. Celebrate National Dairy Month this year with this fun Milk and Cookies Party.
I am excited to partner with Florida Milk on this post.
National Dairy Month
Did you know that June is National Dairy Month? According to International Dairy Foods Association, National Dairy Month in America originally started in 1937 as a grocery/milk promotion. Today, it is an annual tradition to celebrate the dairy industry. And it helps remind us of the health benefits including 9 essential vitamins and minerals including:
- Calcium
- Vitamin D
- Potassium
- Protein
Dairy also reduces the risk of:
- high blood pressure
- osteoporosis
- certain cancers
Heathy eating patterns that include dairy foods are linked to reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and lower blood pressure among adults and better bine health especially on children and adolescents. So, start the summer off right with nutrient-rich dairy foods.
Milk and Cookies Party
Originally, when we planned this Milk and Cookies Party quarantine and social distancing were not words in our vocabulary. But, now that they are I want to inspire you to still celebrate. Have you hosted a virtual party yet? They can be a blast!!! Worried about the technology part of it? If your kids did distance learning for the last two months they will probably be able to help you navigate it.
The great thing about a virtual party is that it can be a simple as setting up a video conference call using a free platform. To make it even more special we like to create care packages to deliver to your friends. For the Milk and Cookies Party we created a Chocolate Chip Cookies
Activities for the Milk and Cookies Party
During this quarantine B's favorite thing to do is to print coloring pages offline. So, she was so excited to see that Florida Dairy has fun coloring pages with Sunny Bell Coloring Pages.
Sunny Bell is Florida Dairy's “Moo”sical mascot. It is a little calf who wants to have an important role on her dairy farm. With the help of the Holstein Sisters, a talking milk bottle and a little boy named Clyde, she learns all about dairy farming in Florida. Since milk is a must when enjoying cookies we printed out coloring pages to deliver with the packages.
We also printed out the Sunny Bell Mask's for everyone to color and wear.
