Back to school season is here. I hope I am not alone, but during the summer I am more laid back which makes for a fun summer but can leave the house unorganized. As back to school season approaches, I like to start getting the house back in shape and take an inventory of things we may need. Back to school shopping is a great time to stock up on other products too. But before I go shopping, I like to and make sure I don't buy things we already have.
Bathroom Organization Ideas
One of the places that has gotten really out of control over the summer is our bathroom. In an attempt to keep the bathroom clean, we have been literally throwing anything and everything into the cabinets or the drawers. It has gotten to the point where I could not find anything anymore. These easy 5 steps will help you tackle your bathroom cabinets and share bathroom organization ideas you can implement at home.
Step 1 - Take Everything Out
I am always embarrassed to see just how unorganized things get. When I get to this point I like to start small. I started with Kurt's side of the sink and it turned out so well. Now I am inspired to go and organize my side and our drawers too.
Step 2 - Take Inventory and Sort
I don't know about your bathroom, but I feel like things get so lost in ours. At some points, I have found that I have purchased like 12 sticks of deodorant. And then other times I think for sure we have TP and I am shocked to see we are out. When you are sorting the products try to combine like items. We had two boxes of bandages, both were half full so I combined them. Throw away any unneeded boxes or wrapping.
Step 3 - Group Items Together
Once you have sorted everything, it is time to determine the containers you want to use. I think especially with storage in cabinets plastic containers with themes of products work well. I found the everything we needed under the sink fit into four categories, TP, cleaning supplies, medicine and toiletries. We already had the bins at the house, so I repurposed them. If you do not keep cleaning supplies under your bathroom sink, I highly recommend it. This small grouping of three products allow me to clean almost anything up in the bathroom I need.
Step 4 - Label
I love to label everything especially if you live with other people. My favorite way to label is using a permanent marker and then printing out the label on the computer in a pretty font. For clear bins place the paper inside the bin and you can trace the word.
Step 5 - Restock Items
Once you have taken inventory you can add items to your shopping list. Back to school season is a great time to try some new products.
