Where did the summer go? I have such mixed feelings about the start of a new school year. I love the slower schedule of summer. We have done a mix of mommy camp and specialty camps. I have really enjoyed the extra quality time together, but trying to balance work with a daughter who is home and no longer naps has been a struggle. I love to make everyday special. So we are setting up a special breakfast for the big day.
What you Need for Back to School Breakfast
- Favorite breakfast food. I try to keep it simple since we are not morning people.
- Decor - Target was my go to for all the decor.
- Teacher gift - Include your teacher gift in our setup so you don't forget to bring it to school.
- Simple Craft
- 1st Day of School Sign
Decor for Back to School Breakfast
This Learn sign with colorful yarn set the tone for the party. I love the extra pop of color it adds.
Pro Tip: I hang signs like this with washi tape. I made a knot on the end so it does not slide through.
Even though most schools no longer have chalkboards they still remind me of school days. This mini chalkboard was ideal to share my message Have a Great Day! I added a you rock sticker to the top of it and the oversized pencil from target.
We love to bring a special gift for our teacher. I took a vase from the dollar store and wrapped it with decorative rope and then the washi tape with letters. For gifts I like to give what I would want myself. There is nothing like flowers to brighten up the day.
For the glasses I used throw back milk containers. I added the same letter washi tape to the bottom. I also made straw flags with the tape. Since the tape is is clear I put it directly onto paper and then cut the paper to the width of the tape.
I am in love with this back to school chalkboard that I also got from Target. I love the idea of looking back and seeing fun details like my daughter's favorite book.
Food for Back to School Breakfast
I wish I was a morning person, but I am not. We keep breakfast very simple. B's favorite drink is milk. She could not wait to drink one of these during our photo shoot.
B loves to have cereal and fruit for breakfast. I put them into colorful buckets so she could serve herself.
