Last week B had her first field trip. We went to a local farm, Bedner's. We love Bedner's and include them in our list of favorite pumpkin patches in South Florida. For Florida kids it is the closest we get to a real pumpkin patch. Love this photo and how little our pumpkin way just two years ago.
This was our first official field trip to Bender’s and it was a fun experience. During our hayride through the farm the kids got to see first hand where the different food were growing.
After the hayride we got to go through the corn maze. It is amazing to think that eat of the tall stalks only has one piece of corn on it. After the corn maze the kids all got to pick out a pumpkin to take home.
When the field trip was over we took the girls shopping in the store. It was so much fun to see their excitement about buying food they had just seen growing on the farm.
All the girls were especially excited about the corn since they had just been through the corn maze. I have to admit cooking corn has always been a challenge for me. I never knew the best way to cook corn especially when it is still in the husk.
Our friend gave me the recommendation to cook it in the oven with the husk still on it and I will never go back to boiling corn again. This method is so easy and the corn cooks perfectly. It was so sweet it tasted like candy
