1 Leave the oven on at 350°F and grease a loaf pan.
2 In a mixing bowl, slice the ripe bananas. Mash with a fork until completely smooth. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
3 Mix in the baking soda and salt. Add in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Slowly add in the flour and mix it.
4 Pour some of the batter into your greased pan, evenly on the bottom. Layer in the heart shapes side by side so they make a solid heart in the middle. Slowly add the rest of the batter next to the hearts and on top. I would recommend using a pipping bag to do this, if you don't have one you can use a plastic bag and cut a hole in it. Bake for 40 minutes to 1 hour at 350°F (175°C), or until a fork inserted into the center comes out clean. (If you are not doing the heart center cook time with be closer to 50 minutes to an hour)
5 Remove from oven and cool completely on a rack. To slice I used floss (unscented of course). It was my first time trying and it works really well. You can use a butter knife as well.
