Why Diapers Matter + How You Can Help

    Why Diapers Matter

When I first learned about diaper need in America, I was most shocked at the number of people in need and that you cannot buy diapers with food stamps.  Infants and kids need diapers to keep them clean, dry, and healthy.  Of families in diaper need, three-in-five parents (57%)* miss work or school.  Day care and early education programs require a certain number of diapers to care for a baby or toddler. As a result, parents experiencing diaper need missed an average of four days of work or school in the past month.

Last Sunday we attended Miami’s Biggest Diaper Drive, Huddle Up Event at Hard Rock Stadium.  The event is a partnership between Huggies and the Miami Dolphins benefiting the Happy Baby Diaper Pantry of S.E. Florida (National Diaper Bank Network!)  B has worked diaper bank distributions at a local diaper bank before; so she could not wait to get to the game and the diaper drive.  We brought the box of Huggies we bought at Publix to donate.

Guests met former Miami Dolphins players during the pre-game diaper drive; including: inside linebacker John Offerdahl and former cornerback Pat Surtain.  Then guests had the opportunity to play games and win tickets to future Dolphins home games.

After dropping off the diapers, our favorite part was throwing the football around and watching all the other people join into the diaper drive.

How You Can Help; Miami’s Biggest Diaper Drive

If you missed Miami’s Biggest Diaper Drive, don't worry you can still participate.  Here is how you can help families in South Florida.

    • You can donate diapers through the Huggies No Baby Unhugged Amazon registry to send diapers to Happy Baby Diaper Pantry of S.E. Florida.
    • You can simply donate your Huggies Rewards points to benefit the National Diaper Bank Network.

Teaching our daughter the importance of giving back was one of the best parts of the day for me.

Two thumbs up for everyone who helped making the diaper drive a success!

    Bonus: The Dolphins WON!
