Toy Story Land Orlando is officially open. And people are going crazy for the newest section of Hollywood Studios. After seeing wait times over 300 minutes I knew we needed to have a strategy so we could enjoy everything Disney’s Toy Story Land has to offer. From arrival times to fast passes we have you covered with the top tips to help you enjoy all the rides and sites without sending all day.
We did it!
We enjoyed all of Toy Story Land without any fast passes. And we did it all before 11am. I was so excited to share it with you so you can do the same.
Tips and Tricks for Toy Story Land Orlando
1. FastPasses for Toy Story Land
FastPasses are now available for Toy Story Land, but they are not easy to get. With the tiered system you have to pick either Slinky Dog Dash or Toy Story Mania, but not both. I recommend Slinky Dog Dash since it generally has the longest lines.
When we went today the lines for Toy Story Mania ranged from 10-30 minutes. It is so nice to see after getting used to 60-90 minutes waits until Toy Story Land opened.
If you want to increase your chances of getting a FastPass staying at a Disney resort can help. When you stay at one you can book your FastPasses 60 days before your arrival instead of 30 days. If you don't have immediate success don't worry lots of people change their FastPasses around so keep checking your app. If you don't get FastPasses don't worry. We did not have any and we still got on all the rides within 2 hours.
2. Arrive Early at Hollywood Studios for Toy Story Land
If you lucky enough to have multiple days in Disney plan your day at Hollywood Studios for a day you can get there 30-45 minutes before they open. They have been known to open the gates as early as 30 minutes before they officially open.
Some times they let you scan in, but rope off the park and keep it up until the park opens. Kurt picked a day they opened at 9am since we are not an early morning family. We got there 30 minutes early and we were not the only ones with the same idea. I started to get stressed out, but don't worry it all worked out.
To make it easier to get there early we picked a hotel, Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, that was just minutes away from Hollywood Studios. Surrounded by Walt Disney World® Resort and nestled on a 482-acre nature preserve, it is the top rated Hilton Resort in Orlando on TripAdvisor. See our complete room tour here.
If you follow me on stories you know I also loved the location because was across the street from Disney Springs and the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. It was easy for me to come back to the hotel mid day when the heat was too much for me. And I cannot forget their lazy river, water slide and amazing pool area. I will share more about the hotel soon.
Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek has transportation to all four of the parks, but we thought that driving ourselves would be best to ensure we got the park as fast as possible. Thank you again to Mitsubishi for loaning us a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander. We loved having the extra room and the apple play feature for both navigation and to play our favorite music.
3. Ditch the Stroller
It felt like literally everyone went straight to Toy Story Land when the gates opened. Since I don't enjoy rollercoasters I kept the stroller and let Kurt and B speed rock to Toy Story Land Orlando. With crowds like that it is so much faster to get without a stroller.
4. Hit Up Slinky Dog Dash First
By the time we got to Slinky Dog Dash the line said 60 minutes. Which was crazy because it was still 5 minutes before they were even scheduled to open. The good news the line moves really fast. I think the wait was closer to 30 minutes instead of the 60 minutes they advertised. After that hit up Toy Story Mania or the Alien Saucers depending on which line is shorter.
5. Bring Things to Keep your Cool
Toy Story Land Orlando is amazing!!! I found myself just walking about taking it all in. The land is simply amazing!!! It is truly magical. The only issue besides the crowd is the heat. The shade in Toy Story Land is minimal and even in September it was so hot.
Don't forgot your water bottles, fans, and umbrella. Check out all my tips for How to Stay Cool while at the Parks.
6. Meet the Characters
Wait the lines to determine the best time to meet the Toy Story Characters. They do such a great job interacting with the kids and adults like. Just keep in mind that they take a long time with each group so the lines can move slow.
7. Take Time to Soak it All In and Take Photos
Since I don't ride roller coasters I had a chance to just walk around and take it all in. The details are amazing you can see them all in this live video. From larger than life foot prints to holiday lights and dominos. The details are amazing.
