Thank you to Nickelodeon for sponsoring today's post, Sunny Day: Marbleized Hair Accessories
I am super excited to share our newest craft, Marbleized Hair Accessories. These colorful marbleized hair accessories are inspired by my daughter's new favorite show, Sunny Day. So when they reached out to work together she was over the moon. Sunny Day is a talented 10-year-old master hairstylist and salon owner. Personally, I love the show because of Sunny has a can-do attitude. The songs, the bright colors and the positive messages are the perfect combination for a show. One of our favorite saying from Sunny is "Never say never." Watch Sunny Day weekdays on Nickelodeon!
Sunny is always ready to save the day with her friends Rox and Blaire – one hairdo at a time! After watching a recent episode B was inspired to put her baby doll into the styling chair and work her magic like Sunny.
Sunny Day: Marbleized Hair Accessories
Every other week B and I have girls day where we go to the salon together and get our nails done. The entire salon knows her and they cannot wait to see the color combinations she picks. In addition to going to the nail salon we have an amazing collection of nail polish. Last year I decided we should try a craft using one of her favorite mediums, nail polish. We marbleized pumpkins and it was not only a fun process to do together, but the result was so beautiful.
When we were brain storming together what activity Sunny Day would want to do with us we had a long list of crafting and treats. These marbled hair accessories were the winner. We selected yellow, pink, orange, and purple to match Sunny's signature colors.
Items you need for Sunny Day: Marbleized Hair Accessories
- Nail polish
- Warm water
- Disposable bowls
- Headbands and Hair Ties
- Wood Hearts
- Wooden sticks
- Glue
How to Make Sunny Day: Marbleized Hair Accessories
Step 1
Glue the wood sticks to the back of the wood hearts. Let dry completely.
Step 2
Heat water until it is warm and pour into a disposable bowl. Add the nail polish in the pattern you want.
Pro Tip: The first color you put into the bowl will become your base color. Work quickly to make sure you are adding the nail polish while the water is still warm. Add the nail polish slowly to your bowl.
Step 3
Place wooden hearts into the bowl and in one motion pull the heart shape out of the water. When you pull it out the nail polish should cover the heart. Place it on parchment paper to dry.
Step 4
Once the hearts are dry remove the wood stick from the back of the heart and use glue to a fix them to your headband or hair tie. Allow them to drive overnight and then enjoy!
Pro Tip: Add something heavy to the heart to keep it in place until the glue hardens.
