Last night I was invited to attend GIRLS ONLY: The Secret Comedy of Women at the Broward Center. It is hands down the most hilarious show I have ever seen. It is literally a laugh out loud show from start to finish. There were lots of moments when the audience could not control their laughter. It is the perfect show for a girls night out. I felt like we were in the audience of Saturday Night Live. It is running now until June 24th at Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center.
From the moment we walked into the theater we knew this was going to be a fun night. We were greeted by a bar, One Liner on a Pantyliner activity and the photo booth. It was the perfect way to get the audience into the show before it started.
Barbara and Linda address every topic from bras, to puberty, to the history of women and my favorite crafty corner with crafts from feminine products. They are so talented and their comedic timing is unparalleled. Parts of the show include audience participation and their quick wit made it look like the audience members were part of the script. Their energy on stage and in the audience was energetic and contagious.
GIRLS ONLY: The Secret Comedy of Women
GIRLS ONLY, written by Barbara Gehring and Linda Klein, is an original comedy that celebrates the honor, truth, humor and silliness of being female. With a two-woman cast and audiences full of raucous, laughing ladies, the show has found quick popularity in its unique examination of all things girly. The two roles in the show are performed by Gehring and Klein.
Born out of the earnest and sweetly absurd writings the two authors discovered in their girlhood diaries, the GIRLS ONLY mix of sketch comedy, improvisation, audience participation, and hilarious songs and videos reminds audiences of the very funny and very charming similarities all women share.
