This project DIY Wishing Tree is the perfect project for you to focus on what is most important in life. It is a great project to do with her kids. I have been compensated by Scholastic for this post, DIY Wishing Tree. All opinions are mine alone. #MyWishforYou I have been traveling what feels like nonstop. I love traveling, but being away from my family has been difficult. Two of my last trips were for all female conferences. Being at a conference with 40 other bloggers and then thousands of powerful women made me focus even more on what I want for my daughter.
I have had a number of experiences recently where I realized one of the benefits of getting older is that you realize you can say no. How I wish I could back in time and tell my younger self to find what I am passionate about and focus on it instead of pleasing other people.
Last week we celebrated B's 6th birthday. Her birthday always makes me think of everything I want to teach her. So, when I received a copy of My Wish for You by actress Kathryn Hahn and illustration by Brigette Barrager, it felt like it was meant to be. The book is a love letter to daughters everywhere, encouraging young girls to always be themselves, no matter what the world tells them.
DIY Wishing Tree
Since reading and crafting are some of our favorite things to do to together I thought it would be fun to create a wishing tree. We cut out leaves and I asked B to tell me all her wishes. Some were really cool like wanting to live in space. (Can you tell I just toured NASA last week?) I simply asked B to tell me all her wishes and I wrote them down. She wrote some down, too. Then, we created a wishing tree.
After we hung the tree, we sat down together and read My Wish for You. It is the sweetest book and exactly the message I wanted to share with B. See more information about the book below.
