Wreaths and ornaments are my go to holiday decor items so it just seemed right to combine them together. I use wreaths for interior and exterior decor. You can never have too many so I got started. Here are the details for my DIY Holiday Ornament Wreath. I made it in less than 30 minutes
I am in love with the final product and wanted to share it with you. I have included a number of pro tips from the lessons I learned from creating mine.
DIY Holiday Ornament Wreath
What you Need for the DIY Holiday Ornament Wreath:
- 60-80 Round Ornaments
- Wire Hanger
- Glue Gun
- Ribbon
Pro Tip: Mix large and small ornaments. Can you use one color or mix multiple colors. If you use more than 1 color I recommend doing 4 of the same color in a row. Some of the ornaments will be on the backside of the wreath and some on the the front so you end of not seeing all them.
Instructions for the DIY Holiday Ornament Wreath
Step 1 - Take a wire hanger and bend it into a circle.
Step 2 - Check the tops of the ornaments. If they easily pull off add a dot of glue with your hot glue gun.
Pro Tip: I originally skipped this step. I was happy the ornaments were shatterproof because a number of them fell down. I ended up gluing them after which was more difficult since they were attached to the wire hanger.
Step 3 - Untwist the top of the hanger so you can easily add the ornaments to it. Start adding the ornaments one by one. Use the small ones to fill in the holes.
You can use pliers or your hands. I ended up gluing on the smaller ornaments to fill in the gaps because I originally only purchased large ornaments.
Step 4 - Once the wreath is filled up re-twist the hanger together and secure with hot glue.
Step 5 - Cover the hook with your ribbon.
Pro Tip: I used two layers of ribbon because I was still able to see the hook through my first ribbon. I like to use a ribbon with a wire so you can bend the wire into the shape you want.
Step 6 - Attach a decorative bow and enjoy!
