The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is hosting the “Dinosaurs Around the World” exhibit, open now until April 16th. They invite guests to travel back to an age when dinosaurs ruled the planet – no time machine required. The blockbuster exhibit offers the most life like dinosaurs all on display like a prehistoric zoo. My daughter, Bailey (age 3) and two of her friends spent the day there last week and they all loved it and keep asking when they can take their daddies back. I highly recommend it.
My Tips
There is so much to experience at the museum, I would plan to spend a minimum of 4 hours or plan on coming back another day. In 4 hours there were still things we rushed through. If you have younger kids I would start prepping them before you go for just how big the dinosaurs will be. The two days before we went we kept telling Bailey that the dinosaurs could be as big as the huge palm trees in our front yard and that they would be moving and make noises. When we pulled up we were greeted by a massive dinosaur. Instead of being afraid of it Bailey was so excited and said "Mommy, wow they are as big as you said they would be". One of her friends was less excited when she saw the size. The smaller dinosaur pictured below really helped her get comfortable before we went inside.
I would recommend looking for a Dinosaur experts like the lady pictured below. The girls all picked out a dinosaur from the gift shop and were excited to ask the dinosaur expert information about their new friend.
This was the first time Bailey and her friends tried the mini golf course and they loved it. I was a little concerned that it would turn into a hitting games with the clubs, but they were so focused on getting the ball into the hole it was never an issue.
Dinosaur Arts and Crafts
The girls really got into the arts and crafts situated around the museum. Below are some photos of the color a dinosaur table and the
What to Bring:
Leave the stroller at home. If you have small children I would recommend wearing them in a wrap instead of bringing a stroller. We packed a lunch for the girls. They have tables outside under cover and next to the natural trail. If you don't want to bring food, they have a cafe where you can buy lunch and snacks.
