Bailey and I love bars. Everytime we got to a gas station she asked for a bar, monkey see monkey do. I researched at lot of different bar recipes. We learned an important lesson that you cannot skimp on the peanut butter or honey. We were short on honey on our first attempt so they turned more into granola and not a granola bar.
This recipe on Cookies and cups blog is my favorite not only because it is so simple, but it is so tasty. This was another recipe that Kurt and I almost ate all of while Bailey was sleeping.
Ingredients
- 1 cup peanut butter - we used smooth, but I would like to try with crunchy as well.
- ½ cup honey or agave
- 3 cups cereal - we did a combo of oats, multi-grain Cheerios and chocolate Cheerios.
Add ins - the options are endless.
- Nuts - any options work. Recommend chopping them up
- Chocolate chips or chunks
- Raisins
- Cranberries
- Dried blue berries
- Chia seeds
- Coconut
Instructions
Step 1: Line a 9x9 pan with foil or parchment paper. Spray lightly with non-stick spray of you are using foil.
Step 2: Melt the peanut butter and honey together until smooth, either in the microwave or stove top. We did the microwave because our gas stove and a toddler makes me nervous. Combine mixture with the cereal.
Step 3: Press into prepared pan. Place in refrigerator until set. Cut into squares.
I cannot wait to try this recipe again. If you try it would love to know what you used for add ins and how many days did they actually last in your house?

Really like the simplicity of this recipe will have to give it a try with all the leftover cereal I bought on sale.

The more simple the better especially if kids want to get involved. Hope you enjoy. Let us know how they turn out. Thank you for reading and re-blogging!!

Love your cooking time together. I want to implement the same kind of QT with my kids. Thinking of simply doing pizza.

Thank you. I have never enjoyed cooking before, but Bailey loves it so much I am starting to love it too. Pizza had been on our list. Let me know how it goes.

Glad they were a hit what cereal and add ins did you use? I wanted to make them again today but Bailey was not into it either.
