We are lucky to live just a mile from the beach. Most of our summer days you can find us at the beach. After 8 years of beach and boat days with kids we have found a great system. Today I am sharing my checklist for what to pack for the beach.
Checklist for What to Pack for the Beach
Snacks and Drinks
I don't know what it is about the warm ocean air, but it seems to make everyone so hungry. Make sure to pack lots of snacks. I like to bring individual bags because little wet hands in bags can quickly make everything wet. When that happens, you will be happy they were not eating out of the big bag. We also like to bring subs or wraps so we can have an easy lunch or dinner by the water.
For drinks, everyone brings a water bottle and then one or two other drinks. Swimming and the warm sun make everyone extra thirsty.
Chairs and Shade
One of the best things we have done recently is start renting chairs and an umbrella on the beach. Services like this are popping up on more and more beaches. We of course still have our chairs and umbrella in case we are trying a new beach.
Towels
We love to use extra-large beach towels. They are great for sitting on or drying off after an ocean swim.
Goggles/Mask
The saltwater can be hard on kids' eyes. We keep both a mask and goggles in our beach bag.
Sunscreen and Bugspray
Living in South Florida we know all about the damage the sun can do to everyone's skin. We actually keep sunscreen at the bottom of our stroller, so we always have it with us. When the sun goes down the bugs come out. We recently tried Babyganics® SPF 50+ Sunscreen Lotion and Babyganics® Natural Insect Repellent (it comes with in two versions one with an Aerosol Spray and one with a Pump Spray). We found all at our local Publix. Click here to add to your cart.
Like many new moms I am very cautious about the products I use on Slade. I was excited to try Babyganics products because they use plant-based and other thoughtfully chosen ingredients that are hand-picked with little ones in mind.. I also love their fun and playful branding.
Hats
We all wear a hat when we are not swimming.
Toys
Most days we bring a boogie board, surfboard or floats. You could also bring sandcastle making stuff and a ball.
Speaker
This is an optional item. We like to bring a small Bluetooth speaker with us so we can enjoy our music.
Beach Cart
I highly recommend getting a cart so you can easily transport everything from your car to the beach.
