When I originally started on this adventure to become a blogger we cut back on every expense we could think of, including our housekeeper. It is funny when I used to tell friends that we did not have one more than one person responded that they would rather cut their food budget over a maid.
While I hope they were joking now that we are slowly adding back in the luxuries we once slashed I have found that no one does it like you do. I am not saying that my house was clean all the time, far from it. But, when I cleaned something I went above and beyond.
How to Clean Blinds
So now that our house is clean on a regular basis I am starting to notice the things that I overlooked when I was cleaning it myself. Things like how dirty our blinds were in the kitchen. It is crazy how the dirt in the kitchen with grease does not come off with regular cleaning.
I was determined to figure out how to get the blinds super clean without spending hours rubbing down each individual blind. I figured it out and I am so excited to share it with you. Hope you are as excited as I am.
What You Need to Really Clean Your Blinds
- Bath tub
- Vinegar
- Water
- Rag
- Screw Driver
I know a screw driver sounds like a really strange item for this list, but don’t worry we are going to take the blinds down. And it is super easy to do. I was determined to do it during a baseball game so I knew I had to figure it out myself.
How to Clean Blinds
This is the part I was most nervous about, but I figured what is the worst thing that could happen.
1 – Run a bath with hot water and pour in vinegar. I did not measure the vinegar. I just poured enough where I could smell it. About a cup of two.
2 – Remove the decorative wooden piece from the top and place on your counter. Then using a flat head screw driver pop off the level to release your blinds.
3- Place the blinds in the tub and let them soak.
4 – If your blinds are really dirty with grim like mine were you will want to rub the slats down with a rag.
5- Once all the blinds are clean empty the tub. And then wipe down the blinds with fresh water until the water is all clear.
6 – Allow the blinds to dry. I placed mine outside for the rest of the afternoon.
7- Then reinstall the blinds. To do so you will insert one end of the blinds and then the other. Use the screw driver to pop the lever back into place. Then push the decorative top back into place.
In full disclosure, I broke one of the plastic pieces. I don’t think it has impacted the use of the blinds.
Now that you are on a cleaning role it may be time to tackle some of these other projects.

Thank you for the tips, the only thing I don't like about having blinds was the difficulty in cleaning them.
