I am still in shock that B is starting Kindergarten this month. It is amazing how much she has grown over the summer. She actually told Kurt last week that she missing learning and cannot wait to get back to school. The ironic part is that she does not realize how much she has learned over the summer just by us focusing on everyday learning opportunities. Here are some tips for you can use to encourage your kids read and learn to love reading.

Setup Reading Areas in Your Home

We have three different areas in our home setup with books. One in the playroom with a chair right next to the book case, one in our bedroom and one in B's room.

Let Your Kids Pick the Book

Everynight we let B pick out the books she wants us to read. It gets her so excited and more engaged when she gets to lead the process and pick the books we will read. Be Supportive

Let your kids practice reading with you. Just sitting with them and helping them sound out the words will help encourage their love of reading.
