The New Year is a great time to reassess what is most important you. Personally, I like to select a word to guide me for the year and focus on healthy habits instead of resolutions. My word for 2020 is Create. I want to focus on creating the best version of my life. And the best way to do that is to focus on healthy habits. Today, I am sharing my best habits for healthy living.
Healthy Habits for the New Year
Create a Plan:
As a mom and wife, sometimes it feels like we are all running in 100 different directions. On Sunday we sit down as a family and review the plan for the week, so everyone knows the plan for the week. This year I want to be better about adding in self-care to my plan every week.
Meal Plan:
Before I was pregnant we were really good about weekly meal planning I am hoping to get back to it this year. Meal planning has been a lifesaver for us on a couple of different levels. First, it has allowed us to eat cleaner and include more veggies in our diet. We also save money by eating home more often. And finally, we enjoy more family time at home. It has also helped to get our daughter involved in the process. Last week we even went to a local farm to pick fresh produce.
The following supplement is a great addition to a healthy meal plan. You can order them from your local Walmart or at WalmartHealthSupport.com.
Source Naturals® Wellness Formula® has a high-potency vitamin C plus 25 more key nutrients! It also promotes normal mucus production in your respiratory system, keeps white blood cells healthy from free radicals, promotes a healthy response to stress, and supports a healthy respiratory system!
Read More Often:
Since our daughter is in 1st grade we are really focused on her reading and developing her love of reading. And the most amazing part is that it is working! For Christmas, she asked for books. During break she asked to go to the bookstore and the library. She takes books with her everywhere from dinner to days at the pool.
While we are so proud of her it made me realize I rarely make time to read for fun. At our last pool day, I made sure to pack not only books for her, but also for me.
Volunteer:
Volunteering can help you make friends, learn new skills, advance your career, and even feel happier and healthier.
“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”

Find an Exercise You Enjoy:
Exercise can be a great stress release. Moving your body can make it feel even better. Instead of looking at exercise as something you must do try and find an exercise that you enjoy so that it can be fun and not a chore.
Be Kind:
Everyone in the world is struggling through something. Treat everyone with kindness.
Spend Time Outside:
Being outside can improve memory, fight depression, and lower blood pressure. A simple walk in nature can help reduce stress. For me, I am happiest when I am by the water. We try to spend as much time by the water. It can be as simple as setting up a simple picnic outside. Or planning trips that allow you to enjoy the outdoors.
Clean Out Medicine Cabinet:
The New Year is a great time to get organized and that includes your medicine cabinet. Almost all medicine has an expiration date on it. Instead of learning that you the medicine you need to take has expired it is better to update you medicine cabinet now, so you are ready to fight things like a sore throat.
It is also a great time to stock up on products you may need this year. You can find all these at your local Walmart and on WalmartHealthSupport.com.
- Vicks VapoCOOL SEVERE Drops. These drops can help you soothe your sore throat. Vicks VapoCOOL Lozenges vaporize your sore throat pain with its targeted intense cooling. It also includes Benzocaine a powerful numbing treatment. They also offer MAXIMUM-STRENGTH RELIEF: VapoCOOL SEVERE. It has 33% more medicine to soothe your pain.
- Align Dualbiotic Gummy Support a healthy gut with great tasting, easy to chew gummies. Contain a prebiotic fiber, inulin, to help nourish good bacteria in your digestive system. Align Gummies are naturally flavored and contain less than 1g of sugar per gummy!
- Metamucil Fiber Thins are a delicious way to add additional fiber to your diet. Each crunchy fiber snack has 5 grams of fiber with just 100 calories per serving. Fiber helps keep your full longer and promote digestive health. Metamucil is the #1 doctor-recommended fiber brand. Metamucil traps and removes the waste that weighs you down, so you feel lighter and less sluggish. Metamucil Fiber Thins come in three flavors including: Chocolate, Cinnamon Spice or Apple Crisp.
Focus on Lifelong Learning:
Life learning has so many benefits. And with the availability of podcasts, books and online courses it is easier than ever to never stop learning. Did you know that lifelong learning can improve your self-confidence? It also helps your brain stay sharp. You set a great example for your kids. Learning about new subjects you may discover a subject that makes you happy.
Drink More Water:
Drinking enough water is important for all parts of your body including: joints, skin, brain, spinal cord and tissues.
Do More of What Makes you Happy:
Life gets so busy that sometimes as adults we forget to do things that actually make us happy. This year try making a list of everything you enjoy and do at least one of them every week. It could be as simple as enjoying your coffee on the patio instead of inside.
