Spring Cleaning Tips:

I love Spring time!  It means amazing weather, new flowers and spring cleaning ideas.  I love spring cleaning because it is when I tackle some of the cleaning projects that I do not do on a regular basis.

Kitchen

In the kitchen during spring cleaning I recommend wiping down all the cabinets.  To do this remove everything from each cabinet so you can wipe down the interior of the cabinets.  During this time, I always like to check the dates on all my food.  And ask myself is this a product I have used in the last year.  If not, I put it in a giveaway pile.

In addition to wiping down the interior of the kitchen cabinets I always recommend wiping down the exterior of the cabinets and the pulls.  I was shocked just how dirty the exterior of our cabinets where.

We bought our house during a crazy time in the housing market.  We looked for a home for 2 years.  During those 2 years we lost houses to all cash offers and by not going to see it the first day it hit the market.  So, every day I checked for new listings online.  When our house came on the market we were the first family to see it.  Over that weekend they had over 25 families come to see it.  Kurt was sold on it, but I was really worried about the kitchen.

I love a light and bright kitchen.  And this kitchen was anything, but!!! Kurt assured me that if we got the house we could make updates to the kitchen.  While I really wanted to tear out the entire kitchen we settled on knocking down a wall, removing cabinets, adding lighting, remover the header, painting the cabinets and changing the hardware.

Painting the kitchen cabinets made the biggest change of our kitchen remodel.  But, we have lived here for 5 years and the cabinets are starting to show the wear and tear of being used every day.

Kitchen Sink

1. Refresh your faucet - Cut a lemon in half and rub it on the faucet to remove any stuck-on water marks.  Then put the lemon down the disposable to freshen the disposal.
2. Clean your microwave - Use the other half of the lemon and squeeze the water into a ½ cup of water.  Add in the rinds of the lemon to the cup.  Microwave the mixture for 2-4 minutes depending on your microwave.  Wait 5 minutes and then wipe down the inside of your microwave.
3. Floors and baseboards

The other big part for our remodel was hardwood floors.  I always wanted them.  When we adopted Addy, we were so excited to have a dog that does not shed.  Turns out she does!!! And her light fur stands out on our dark hardwood floors.

Spring cleaning time is a great time to determine if it is time to upgrade your vacuum.
