When I first was asked to partner with Sam’s Club and Tyson® All Natural Premium Cornish Hens to say I was nervous is an understatement. Cornish hens always sounded so intimidating to me. When my husband got home I shared the good news with him hoping that he would reassure me of my cooking skills. He did not. His reaction was you better call Mo.
Mo is my best friend and her cooking skills are unbelievable. She is always trying new meals that are fancy and seem beyond my cooking level including Cornish Hens. Before this experience I would never have attempted this because I am not confident in my skills. So I texted her to see if I should decline the offer, you can always count on your best friend to give it to you straight. She encouraged me to try it and I was so happy she did because OMG these Easy Bacon Wrapped Cornish Hens in the Crock Pot are not only easy they are amazing! The meat is so tender it literally falls off the bone. In our house we believe that bacon makes good things even better. Tyson® Cornish Hens are great for any occasion and simple to cook. I cannot wait to share them with my friends and family over the holiday, they are very elegant.
I love my crock pot because it allows me to focus on the part of entertaining that I am most confident in, the decor! As an event designer, marketer and blogger my career is far from a 9-5. Many nights I am dropping our daughter off at the husband’s office so I can meet a client or attend an event. He is so supportive of my career I thought this would be the perfect chance to plan a fancy date night for just the two of us in our dining room. Once I prepped the food I got started on our table.
For our table I started by pulling out our wedding Waterford and my favorite blue and white china. We are always “saving” them for a special occasion. With Tyson® Cornish Hens on the menu I knew this was a special occasion. I layered a bread and dinner plate on top of gold chargers. Added the aqua napkins to add a beautiful pop of color. Then I added a crispy white table runner. I keep our flowers simple with white hydrangeas. When planning your centerpieces, keep in mind function. I used a small vase and cut the stems to make sure that they did not block our view of each other. Then I added lots of metallic votive candle holders to make the entire table glow.
To complement our meal I served Ravage Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a great everyday bottle of wine. You can taste two of my favorite flavors: raspberry and chocolate. The tannins are soft enough to add balance. Cornish hens are a great holiday solution to impress guests and pairs very well with Ravage Cabernet Sauvignon.
