When I was asked to partner with MorningStar Farms® Veggie Bowls and Walmart for their My Way to Veg campaign I could not wait to get started! I was a vegetarian for 5 years and during that time I was introduced to MorningStar. Their products saved me and allowed me to enjoy my favorite foods like chicken nuggets. When my husband and I first met he did not eat any veggies, not even lettuce on his sandwich. When we first starting dating I made it my mission to make him enjoy veggies!! And it worked!!!
I am no longer a vegetarian. My husband is grateful he did not have to live through the year of the tofu turkey for Thanksgiving. Even though we eat meat we still enjoy having vegetarian meals. MorningStar Farm Veggie Bowls are ideal for our family since we are always trying to balance work and family and the desire to eat clean. And our whole family loves them. They are quick and easy to make which makes my life easier while sticking to a healthier lifestyle. Less time prepping our dinner means more time setting the table.
I love a theme so I wanted to keep our Meatless Monday theme with DIY Vegetable Centerpieces.
DIY Asparagus Candle Centerpieces
- Mason jar with candle or a Pillar candle
- Rubber band
- Twine or decorative ribbon
- Sharp scissors or knife
Step 1: Measure and cut the asparagus based on the height of the container.
Pro Tip: I recommend having the asparagus be a couple of inches taller than the candle.
Step 2: Wrap the rubber band around the candle and attach the asparagus keeping the rubber band straight.
Step 3: Wrap twine or decorative ribbon over top of the rubber band.
Pro Tip: Keep in the refrigerator until you are ready to set the table to keep fresh.
I accented our white table runner with two of our asparagus candles. I layered square wood chargers with white square plates topped with the hello Fall napkins. These napkins are my favorite of the season! I hand wrote out the name tags and added greenery with a glittery clip.
Morning Star’s Italian and Pot Pie
We bought both the Italian Sausage Bake and the Chik’n Pot Pie. For this Meatless Monday we tried the Chik’n Pot Pie. We do not have a microwave, long story. So I cooked it in the oven. It made the whole house smell like I had been cooking all day long. The taste was even better, I don’t think my husband would have known it was Veggie Chik’n Strips if I had not told him. The julienned carrots, red skin potatoes, yellow corn, and red onion flavors are all mixed together in a citrus wine and herb cream sauce and topped with a biscuit crust top. With 14 grams of protein it is the perfect meal.
